Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of DEATH BY DESIGN / THE LIFE AND
TIMES OF LIFE AND TIMES, THE DREAMS OF SPARROWS, GANTZ: SUDDEN DEATH
(VOLUME 6), GONE TO BAJA: SPEARFISHING 101, THE PLACE PROMISED IN OUR
EARLY DAYS, SAIYUKI: REQUIEM: THE MOTION PICTURE, SALARYMAN KINTARO
(VOLUME 1), SHALL WE DANCE (1937), and TABLE FOR FIVE:

DEATH BY DESIGN / THE LIFE AND TIMES OF LIFE AND TIMES (reviewed by Jeff
    Andreasen, overall score 95/100):
"Ever wonder why you develop in the womb with webbed appendages but pop
into the world with free-swinging fingers and toes? Me either, but the
scientists spotlighted and interviewed for Death by Design/The Life and
Times of Life and Times give us the answer to that as well as many other
questions you never thought to ask."

THE DREAMS OF SPARROWS (reviewed by Neal Solon, overall score 95/100):
"By not presenting a unified reaction to the U.S. invasion of Iraq,
Daffer avoids the broad strokes typical of political portraiture -- but
his story also becomes necessarily disjointed. There is no plot, nor
much chronology. In many ways, these things would have added a sense of
artificiality to a film that tries to be anything but artificial."

GANTZ: SUDDEN DEATH (VOLUME 6) (reviewed by Mitchell Hattaway, overall
    score 50/100):
"I'm starting to believe I will never rid myself of this series."

GONE TO BAJA: SPEARFISHING 101 (reviewed by David Johnson, overall
    score 85/100):
"Spare me your spearfishing idealism Dale. We both know why you're going
back out there. Spearfishing isn't a sport to you, it's a competitive
    diversion done for enjoyment!"

THE PLACE PROMISED IN OUR EARLY DAYS (reviewed by Joel Pearce, overall
    score 77/100):
"Ultimately, The Place Promised in Our Early Days is as disappointing a
film as it is a beautiful one. Such a stunning production deserves a
much better script and a lot less personal indulgences on the part of
the director and animators. It's a film that I wanted to love, but had a
hard time even focusing on by the end."

SAIYUKI: REQUIEM: THE MOTION PICTURE (reviewed by Dan Mancini, overall
    score 62/100):
"While the spectacle probably fills Saiyuki fans with glee, it doesn't
accomplish what Requiem most needs in order to function as a stand-alone
adventure in this detailed fantasy world."

    FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/saiyukirequiem.php

SALARYMAN KINTARO (VOLUME 1) (reviewed by Dan Mancini, overall
    score 83/100):
"It offers no 50-foot mecha, tentacled demons, or bustier-popping sci-
fi chicks. That said, it's a subversive little anime well worth
    checking out."

SHALL WE DANCE (1937) (reviewed by Diane Wild, overall score 89/100):
"Shall We Dance is the seventh Fred Astaire-Ginger Rogers film, made
memorable by the music of George and Ira Gershwin. The plot is flimsy,
the jokes are lame, but it's Fred and Ginger, George and Ira, and you
can't take that away from me."

TABLE FOR FIVE (reviewed by Dennis Prince, overall score 95/100):
"The story here isn't terrifically bad, but it's not terrifically
    believable, either."
