Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of THE DRESDEN DOLLS: PARADISE, FADE
TO RED: TORI AMOS VIDEO COLLECTION, FLIGHT FROM DEATH: THE QUEST FOR
IMMORTALITY, GILGAMESH: AS TRUTH BREAKS LIKE GLASS (VOLUME 5), GOLF
MAGAZINE TOP 100 TEACHERS: THE MORE SERIES, THE IMPASSIONED EYE, ISLAND
IN THE SUN, THE MESSAGE: 30TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION, ONE DARK NIGHT,
SAKURA DIARIES: SECRETS AND LIES (VOLUME 1), VEGGIETALES: SHEERLUCK
HOLMES AND THE GOLDEN RULER, and THE WHEELS ON THE BUS... AND MORE SING-
    ALONG FAVORITES (SCHOLASTIC VIDEO COLLECTION):

THE DRESDEN DOLLS: PARADISE (reviewed by Mac McEntire, overall
    score 85/100):
"As grand as the music was, it was balanced by the relaxed atmosphere
the two added when interacting with the audience. Whether pleading with
the lighting engineers to turn off the 'orb' over the balcony, grousing
about having the flu, or inviting everyone to get out of their seats and
gather in front of the stage, Amanda and Brian gave the evening a
feeling of hanging out with friends, rather than a full-blown concert."

FADE TO RED: TORI AMOS VIDEO COLLECTION (reviewed by Brendan Babish,
    overall score 80/100):
"Amos is a striking redhead with a theatrical flair. When she plays the
piano she straddles the bench and gyrates her body in a way that would
be unseemly for a less serious artist."

FLIGHT FROM DEATH: THE QUEST FOR IMMORTALITY (reviewed by Russell
    Engebretson, overall score 80/100):
"The documentary is compelling as a meditation on human violence and
death, but unsatisfying when it tries to explain human aggression and
all manner of social ills with an all-encompassing, one-note
    psychological theory."

GILGAMESH: AS TRUTH BREAKS LIKE GLASS (VOLUME 5) (reviewed by Brett
    Cullum, overall score 92/100):
"Plots are finally becoming clearer, and my passion for the show remains
unabated. Gilgamesh remains the most stunning piece of cyberpunk
    released this year."

    FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/gilgameshvol5.php

GOLF MAGAZINE TOP 100 TEACHERS: THE MORE SERIES (reviewed by Ryan
    Keefer, overall score 62/100):
"But the alluring thing about golf, much like another predominantly white-
collar obsession (the stock market), is that it's the chase for
something that's seldom obtainable. Just like there is no simple way to
beat the market, there's no way to beat a course. In large part, this is
because there's no known swing or style of play perfect enough to change
    conventional thinking."

    FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/golf100teachers.php

THE IMPASSIONED EYE (reviewed by Chris Claro, overall score 80/100):
"If The Impassioned Eye fails as a documentary, it does so with a good
deal of respect for its subject. Though the majority of the film plods
through a prosaic recounting of Bresson's career, the fruits of that
career save The Impassioned Eye from being a waste of time."

    FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/impassionedeye.php

ISLAND IN THE SUN (reviewed by Dan Mancini, overall score 80/100):
"Producer Daryl F. Zanuck (All About Eve) brings us a lavish soap opera
set in the Caribbean and peppered with sex, a little politics, sex, a
casual examination of colonialism and racial tension, and sex."

    FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/islandinsun.php

THE MESSAGE: 30TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall
    score 80/100):
"Once the movie moves away from its Ten Commandment crassness and
explains the actual tenets of Islam, The Message becomes a mesmerizing
experience. As in the original, silent version of The King of Kings, we
witness the building of a faith from the believers on up."

ONE DARK NIGHT (reviewed by Bryan Pope, overall score 78/100):
"Young people like to be scared, too, and this movie is a natural
stepping stone for teens before they embark on horror films of a darker,
    more adult nature."

    FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/onedarknight.php

SAKURA DIARIES: SECRETS AND LIES (VOLUME 1) (reviewed by Adam Arseneau,
    overall score 90/100):
"In the dance between outright pornographic and tantalizingly sexy,
Sakura Diaries ends up firmly on the latter side, always teasing but
never quite giving up the goods. The story is light, smart, funny, and
wholesome ... err, well, not wholesome exactly, as there is far too much
nakedness and sexual tension for that sort of thing."

    FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/sakuradiariesvol1.php

VEGGIETALES: SHEERLUCK HOLMES AND THE GOLDEN RULER (reviewed by David
    Johnson, overall score 80/100):
"This is not one of Big Idea's more money releases and, fan that I am,
it failed to move and groove me. These guys have set a high standard
with their family fare, and the simple truth is Sheerluck Holmes and the
Golden Ruler couldn't quite rise to the occasion."

THE WHEELS ON THE BUS... AND MORE SING-ALONG FAVORITES (SCHOLASTIC VIDEO
COLLECTION) (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 85/100):
"Got kids who like to sing or pretend they like to sing? This round of
Scholastic read-alongs feature four musical little tales, primed to be
belted out by even the most tone-deaf four-year-old."
