Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of AMERICAN EXPERIENCE: VICTORY IN THE
PACIFIC, CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM: THE COMPLETE FOURTH SEASON, EXPO: MAGIC
OF THE WHITE CITY, HARAKIRI: CRITERION COLLECTION, ISLAND IN THE SKY,
THE MAMBO KINGS, and WITNESS: SPECIAL COLLECTOR'S EDITION:

AMERICAN EXPERIENCE: VICTORY IN THE PACIFIC (reviewed by Erick Harper,
    overall score 95/100):
"History buffs both causal and serious will enjoy this sober, objective
look at the American experience during the final days of World War II.
It's also nice to see a program that doesn't neglect the Pacific
Theater, as so many purported World War II documentaries seem to do.
    Highly recommended."

CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM: THE COMPLETE FOURTH SEASON (reviewed by David
    Johnson, overall score 91/100):
"Not a single episode is mediocre; they range from pretty good to
brilliant. Simply put, the fourth season of Curb Your Enthusiasm is some
of Larry David's most inspired work, as an actor and as a writer."

EXPO: MAGIC OF THE WHITE CITY (reviewed by Mac McEntire, overall
    score 89/100):
"The real treasure of this DVD is the sheer amount of information it
provides about the Fair, even if it might take several viewings to
    absorb it all."

HARAKIRI: CRITERION COLLECTION (reviewed by Erick Harper, overall
    score 98/100):
"Director Masaki Kobayashi considered Harakiri the ultimate anti-samurai
picture. As film expert (and Criterion regular) Donald Richie observes
in his video introduction, the film is both generic and non-generic,
incorporating the historical setting and trappings of the samurai genre
while turning many of its conventions on their heads."

ISLAND IN THE SKY (reviewed by Ryan Keefer, overall score 82/100):
"Between this film and The High and the Mighty, the court has grown
exasperated with just how much Leonard Maltin shows up in these DVDs of
restored classics, and would hope that this is not repeated in future."

THE MAMBO KINGS (reviewed by Rob Lineberger, overall score 87/100):
"Two assertions about The Mambo Kings would pass relatively undisputed.
First, the music is fantastic, at turns infectious and melancholy.
Second, the frenetic energy of the plot peters out halfway through, and
the film relies on commonplace melodrama in the closing scenes."

WITNESS: SPECIAL COLLECTOR'S EDITION (reviewed by Jeff Andreasen,
    overall score 84/100):
"It's interesting to hear director Peter Weir say of Witness that it's a
'lightweight' film. Interesting because Witness actually is a
lightweight film, and because Weir seems the exception to the rule: a
director who can look at his work with an objective eye."
