DVD Recording Question.

Hi, I am new to this and am hoping someone can help.

    I have a Phillips DVDR985. I use the DVD+RW and DVD+R DVD's

When I use the +RW, I can record numerous programs on one dvd with no
problems. When I use the +R DVD's, all is ok as long as I don't stop
the recording between programs. If I attempt to use the dvd again
after stopping, I get BAD DVD message while recording, and the disc
becomes unuseable. It won't even play. I then have to trash it.

    What am I doing wrong?

Also, No self recorded discs will play on my dvd drive on my computer,
even when they are finalized. Pre recordeds work ok.

    Any clues?

    Thanks

I have the same device, and no such problems.
    Try installing the latest firmware:
