dvd playback flicker with xp

    just changed from win98 to xp all is fine but dvd play back is not very good
    with a good pic sometime but others it displays a ghoast of a previous scene
    while still playing any ideas i have a P111 600mhz with 128mb of ram.

    600 Mhz just isn't fast enough for good DVD playback, especially with XP
    running so many services in the background. Adding another stick of 128MB
    will help somewhat.

    Added to what Unk said, check the disk drive DMA selection. Go into the
    Control Panel, System, in System Properties select Device Manager, and
    click on IDE controllers. Double click on the Primary and Secondary IDE
    channels, Advanced Settings tab, and in Transfer Mode, make sure "DMA if
    available" is selected for each available device.
