DVD burner issues

  1. Hello there,

I got a SONY DRU-700A DVD burner and I got some compatability issues : When
I burn movies or data other computers refuse to recognize the DVD - it just
think for few seconds and that's it, I use DVD-R media 4X speed. It's very
strange because my computer recognize it (of course), and so are my 2 DVD
players but my other computer don't recognize it and so are my freinds'
computers. I tried another brand of DVD media but it didn't work. I use Nero
Burning Rom 6 and NeroVision Express.

Why is it happening? Do I need to burn at even lower speed (2X)?

    Thanks in advance,
    Udi G.

Issue number one is to determine what format DVD disks the other
computers WILL recognize. For example, the DVD player in my two year
old Dell PC would only recognize factory manufacturered CDs. It would not
play -R/RW or +R/RW at all. Downloading a firmware upgrade from Dell
cured that problem and it now plays all DVD format disks.

Also bought a Sony DRU DVD RW-700A dual layer 8x burner. My computer will
see the burned media but whenever I try any disc in my stand alone players,
    the player ejects the disc.

As was suggested by Wesley, try burning on a +R and -R media and the age of
the stand alone DVD players does have a bearing. I too have a Sony 700A and
use nero. I have burnt on -R 4x and 8x, +R 4x and 8x, RW and at this stage 1
8.5g dual layer disk. I have used Princo, Shintaro and Verbatim disks with
NO coasters (cross fingers). All of these formats play on my stand alone
Teak DV-2190K dvd player and other reasonably new DVD players belonging to
friends. Its just a matter of trial and error.

I read a review of this drive and only three of eight stand alone DVD
players could play the DVD. As I suspected with dual layer burners
there is going to be a lengthy period of problems.
