DVD Burn Issues

Discussion in 'DVD Video' started by Daniel Canham, Jan 6, 2005.

  1. I record shows for my kids on my computer, using an ATI TV Wonder USB
2.0, that we can't be around for at showtime. I then burn these files
onto a DVD-R so we can watch them on our schedule. The file format is
mpeg-1, 352x240 at 29.7 fps. I have problems with the video and audio
skipping/pausing a lot on the tv dvd player. I play the DVDs directly
on the computer, using Nero showtime 2.0, and I have no problems. I
even try playing the .vob files individually and have no problems. I
was using Cyberlink Power Producer to burn the files, as it handily
creates menus for me. Now here's the weird thing. When I use a
program called 'Copy to DVD' to create an DVD ISO image, then use Nero
to burn the ISO image to the DVD-R, the problem is lessened immensely.
DVDs reburned under this proceedure that were unwatchable because of
all the skipping are now almost bearable (even using the .vob files
that were on the previously bad DVD). The problem isn't totally
solved, but the serious decrease in problems makes me wonder if a
change in burning proceedures would increase the quality further.
Thank you in advance for any help you may pass my way.
