dot1q vlan question

Discussion in 'Cisco' started by news.sbcglobal.net, Mar 22, 2007.

  1. In the following specific scenario
Switch A port X connects to switch B port Y
port A is configured with the following commands
    switchport access vlan 2

port Y uses default port setting (no specific vlan configuration)

    Is my understanding correct?
    1. ingress of port X adds the vlan tag to incoming frame
    2. egress of port X strips the vlan tag from outgoing frame

    Thanks

tagging only happens on trunks. port x and port y are access links
hence no tagging happens at all.
