I run my Panasonic S35EBS DVD player through an optical link to a
Sherwood Amplifier that supports Dolby Digital sound (and Pro Logic
etc) but I am unable to get sound out of the 2 front speakers whilst
the centre and rear speakers work fine. I have tried many combinations
of settings on the DVD player and amp but if someone knows how to
solve this problem i would be very grateful.

In addition, i have an active bass unit that i have not tried out yet.
Any tips on wiring it up?

    Thanks,

  2. I don't know about the Sherwood, but my Yamaha HT receiver has two
switches on the front panel for speakers A and B. They select the
outlets for the front speakers, but have no effect on the surround
    speakers.
