Does anyone know if the :

NIKON SC-12 TTL Flash cable - for the Nikon F3, will also work (also
provide full TTL functionality) with the more recent flash units, such
    as the SB-80 ?

In other words, in that the cable is intended to provide TTL flash
capabilities for the F3, and since the Nikon flash units that were
referenced in the earlier promotional material are now no longer
available or desirable as flash units, is there anything about the
newer flash units, specifically the SB-80, that would NOT work with
the F3 to create full TTL flash capability ?

    Thanks...
