DHCP handles Naks one one vlan differently

  1. Any ideas on the following:


    1. System(s)is on a different subnet/network, and boots up cold to new
    network
    2. System(s) try to obtain an ip address on the new network, but fails
    3. If you do a ipconfig/release and renew after booting, system(s)
    picks up ip address just fine


    We have two networks in the building. One is vlan'd with a relay to
    the dhcp server, the other network is vlan'd with no relay to the
    dhcp server.

    Neither networks use Windows for DHCP services. One network uses an
    appliance made by a company called Infoblox)


    I'll try and provide a snapshot of some packet captures. In a
    nutshell, it seems that when the machines receive a NAK on one system,
    all heck breaks loose and it won't get an ip address until you either
    rsart or do an ipconfig/ relase and renew...

    On the other network(Same building), that same nak does not cause any
    undue problems and the computers pick up ip addresses just fine.
