Please bear with me, I am just a beginner!

Some background - while I was out my partner installed a new monitor and changed the wallpaper. While doing so a message popped up (I assume from the firewall) about a program trying to connect, but he clicked 'deny'.

The next time I rebooted all the desktop icons had vanished along with the taskbar and start button. I cannot right click on the desktop and can only access programs through task manager. The explorer.exe file seems to have gone too.

I tried running Spybot but the computer keeps rebooting itself mid scan. Here is the Hijack This log - I hope someone can help, and thank you in advance.

    Try safe mode

    Hi,
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wbem\wmiprvse.exe it can be a worm/virus or genuine!
To be on the safe side run your anti-virus in Safe Mode.
Restart your computer and before the Windows Logo screen, quickly start tapping the F8 key.
Choose Safe Mode. (Only your operating system runs in safe mode, nothing else. This way your anti-virus will catch anything that shouldn’t be there.)

After the virus scan, shut down and start up normally.
If nothing changes reboot to Safe Mode again, but this time choose 'last known good configuration'.
This will set your pc back and hopefully restore your desktop.

    If that doesn’t work there’s option 2
Ctrl+Shift+ESC to get to your Task Manager,
    Click the Processes tab,
find explorer.exe Highlight and click End Task.
Then on toolbar in your Task Manager,
Click File menu->New Task (run): type explorer, hit Enter key. Desktop/icons/start menu appear.

    hope this helps,

    :girl:
