I am told that Dell Optiplex (GX 260 & similar types with Intel P4
processors & 82845 'Brookdale' chipsets) are 'fussy' about the type of
DDR memory chips they will take.

Does the problem concern mixing and matching memory sticks in the two
slots, or do they just 'like' some memory types less than others eg if
say just a single 1G is used (manual says 2 x 1G is maximum memory).

A good place to look this up is www.kingston.com and then choose the
computer you have. For example the Dell OptiPlex GX260 takes DDR266 and will
go to a max of 2G with 128M/256M/512M/1G modules.

    Thanks
