How can I delete some news letters and keep the ones I want without having
to do it one at a time? I can only do this if I select-all and then delete
them, but this means I also delete the ones I want to keep.

It depends on how many you have to deal with. If you're not keeping
that many; you could 'select all', and then hold Ctrl and click the ones
you want to keep to de-select them.
