Sometimes when I try to click on the Foxfire icon, a small screen pops
up and states Foxfire is already working, pick another profile.... Why
does that happen? And how do I prevent it happening in the future.
    Regards,

I've seen this happen occasionally on Windows 9x systems with all Moz
prods. There is an instance of the application running in a zombie state
    in the background.

Bring up the task manager and kill the running instance.

I don't know any foolproof way to prevent it happening in the future.
