Kiwi IT services firm Datacom has posted another stellar financial result,
closing the gap on New Zealand's largest services company, EDS New Zealand,
which saw profits and revenues slip back after a bumper performance last
    year.

Datacom posted a 17 per cent rise in revenues to $357 million for the year
to the end of March, while its net profit was up 28 per cent to $22.1
    million.

The company now employs 2002 staff, up 10 per cent during the year. Of
these, 600 are employed in Australia and 102 in Malaysia.

EDS New Zealand reported a 3 per cent drop in revenues to $397.7 million for
the 2005 calendar year, down from $411.8 million in 2004.

Its net profit fell 43 per cent to $25.5 million from a record $44.8 million
    in 2004.

EDS, with more than 2400 staff in New Zealand, remains comfortably the
larger of the two in the local market.

Slightly confused, at a recruitment seminar I attended this year, Gen-I was
claiming the group they were a part of was the biggest
Perhaps because they were including Telecom in their group?
