D-Link Print Server and Lexmark Z55 Printer

Discussion in 'Computer Support' started by Experienced but Undocumented, Dec 27, 2003.

  1. Apologies if this post comes through twice. My news server is not working
properly, but that's a problem for later ;)

    Has anyone successfully used a Lexmark Z55 printer with a D-Link DI-704P
Router/Print server? D-link's website says that the Lexmark Z series
"might" work with this print server. They say that certain Lexmark printers
may not work with print servers because they do not have command
interpreters built in to the printer, but some printers in the Z series
might work if bi-directional printing is disabled. I used the option for
"Prevent Communication from the Printer" but the computer still cannot
    connect to the printer.

The print server's status says "OK" and the printer works when connected
directly to the computer's parallel port.

Through some fluke I got the printer to print an alignment page through the
print server, but that only happened once :(

    Thanks!
