Creating a Link on Desktop

When I use IE I often like to create a shortcut link on my desktop for
a webpage I want to go back to soon, but not keep a permanent
"favorite". For example, I am on an online auction and want to check
the bid prices the next day. Or I am doing some research on a topic
late at night and I find myself too tired to continue, and want to
create a shortcut to go back to the next day. There are many other
times I like to make these shortcuts.

The problem is that Firefox lacks this feature. So, I find myself
having to copy and paste the URL into IE in order to create the
shortcut on my desktop. All of this works, but seems like a real pain
to do all of it. Why does Firefox not have this feature? Yes, I know
there is some extremely complicated way to actually achieve this
result in FF, but thats more of a hassle and more time consuming than
simply to copy and paste the url to IE.

Why FF lacks this feature really stumps me. It can't be that
difficult to add the words "create shortcut" on a left click. I like
FF but it seems the programmers sometimes lack common sense, and this
    is one good example.

Anyhow, with any luck they will add this feature in the future. Until
then, is there a plugin that will accomplish this?

    Open the desired webpage.
Make sure at least part of the desktop is visible.
Place the mouse over the icon at the left end of the URL in the
    address box.
It will change to a hand.
Drag and Drop the icon onto an empty spot on the desktop.
    That's It!
