but wasn't the new AACS protection UNHACKABLE and the HD DVD has been
hacked within 24 hours after it came out?

supposedly unhackable! it is crazy that if u have the right pc u can run the
image of a blu-ray or hd-dvd disc just like u got the disc and a player! ive
tried both and they work great they were 40gb plus tho! and tbh the blu-ray
looked better thru the pc than thru the ps3 :(

The newer ATI and Nvidia cards with "Avivo" or "PureVision"
include H.264 acceleration. This makes it easier on the CPU.

Sad choice. You need Vista Ultimate to utilize the video card properly
as well as play back HD media in an HD reader at full resolution.

32" and higher, dude. With that video card... you wouldn't regret it.
Keep it an HD choice though. Nowadays... preferably 1080p.

And NO, Vista is NOT a dog. Works flawlessly on gear like that which
    you describe.

I had ordered EVGA's eGeForce card. While bench-testing the computer
box, the company that built this puppy for me called and said the
video-card burned up. To avoid delay, I ended up getting MSI's 8800

Bull pucky !! XP Pro rocks. And yes, I dual-boot Vista Ultimate as
well. Vista is a work in progress, with LOTS of driver and software

Hahahah... It is hard to make me laugh, but you certainly have gained
    sucking sess.

It would be interesting to have a log of any time in which my ECC area
was invoked to correct a read flaw.

That would be some interesting reading, and a neat statistic as well.

I likely don't even need the crap as good as chips are these days.

    Nice one.

    I have the EVGA.

Great company, considering its meager roots.

    Nice business structure as well.

Maybe for your box of marbles.

Mine has been operating flawlessly for over a year, from the beta thru
the real product, and I even started with an old 6600 GT vid card.

    Absolutely no complaints.

And I did used to dis MS pretty heavily.

You're an idiot for saying that. It runs at the same rate.

The ECC part ONLY gets invoked if there is a checksum error in a read
    operation.

And it isn't monitoring for checksum errors? Sorry to burst your "pub
expert" bubble, but ECC has always been an overhead on a system, OK now
the memory is fast enough for it not to matter, but it's still an
    overhead.
