Connecting older laptop to network

    I have a Gateway Laptop that runs Windows 2000 Professional that I need to
    connect to my home network. My pc is running XP. I have the router and can
    connect to the internet, but can't seem to figure out how to connect to my
    pc, and share the printer and files. Can anyone tell me how to do this?
