Just got a new Dell Inspiron laptop.

I'm sure over time the screen will get a bit dirty and the fingerpad might
    get grimy.

So, any suggestions on maintaining things

    Check with Dell.

Looking through past posts in 24hshd
    http://groups.google.com/group/24hoursupport.helpdesk?
    search for - lcd clean
    or
servisol wipes , lots of suppliers.

ripped from a previous post -

I have heard several lots of rubbish from computer stores, not high
street/chain stores but specialist dealers over the last year or so.

I use Servisol Engineers Wipes, which were sold locally as suitable for
LCDs (website doesn't list them anymore). To clean my screen, make a
small area slightly damp on the wipe, and wipe across the screen with
very little pressure in one direction only.

Sure -- right in the manual. Did you even open it?

But generally, LCD screens are soft and fragile. I suspect a very
diluted soap solution (or plain water) on a very soft towel is what
    they will suggest.
You do not use any kind of solvent or chemically active solutions, you
don't apply them directly to the surface, and you don't get it very
    wet.
