Cisco PIX 506 and logging traffic events

    I've inherited a system with 2 Cisco 506 PIX to establish point to
    point VPN. One site host an AS400 that the other site connects to via
    telnet session. Resently one of the PIX devices failed so it was
    replaced it with a new Cisco 506 (I copied over the previous config
    from the old device). Now the telnet session terminates frequently for
    the remote site. I'd like to log events to determine if the error is
    cause by the tunnel, ISP or AS400.

    I downloaded KIWI Syslog utility but have not installed it yet on a
    server.
    I do not have a copy of Cisco PIX Device Manager.

    2 questions;
    1) What is the best way to record traffic events on a 506 PIX?
    2) How do I get a copy of PDM and make it work?

    Thanks
