    Hi,

    We've got some 837's and
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/iosswrel/ps5413/products_feature_guide09186a00801c574b.html
says they have a managed 4 port 10/100 FastEthernet switch.

I cant get it to run at 100mbps, am I just being really thick?

    Heres the system info...

  2. Upgrade to a newer version, and you might have something like this:
(output from a 831 dual ethernet), also you can run BGP (!) and OSPF
    with new Plus IOS.

    interface Ethernet0
    ip address 172.16.1.1 255.255.255.0
    no cdp log mismatch duplex
    !
    interface Ethernet1
    ip address 192.168.0.3 255.255.255.0
    duplex auto
    !
    interface FastEthernet1
    no ip address
    duplex auto
    speed auto
    !
    interface FastEthernet2
    no ip address
    duplex auto
    speed auto
    !
    interface FastEthernet3
    no ip address
    duplex auto
    speed auto
    !
    interface FastEthernet4
    no ip address
    duplex auto
    speed auto

  3. Also, I might add that there will be even more in a while.

I'm doing beta testing for Cisco on the 830's, and there is really cool
stuff ahead (but I can't tell you what it is...)

I'm afraid this page is incorrect (unless they have recently released a new
    revision to the 837).

The 837 has a single ethernet interface (which you have no direct physical
access to) which is connected to a 5 port 10/100 switch (the remaining 4
ports are external for you to connect to). The switch is not managed.

The ethernet (interface ethernet 0) is not fast ethernet, and it doesn't
need to be, because you can't exceed that with the onboard ADSL modem (and
these are the only two interfaces on the device, so why would it need more
    bandwidth?).

Which they have! Our new 837's come with c837-k9o3y6-mz.123-2XC.bin which
    has four FastEthernet ports.

Hmm, that is interesting, looks like I've been put in my place ;-)

So is this just a change in IOS, or is the hardware different in the new
837s? If it's just IOS I may have to track down a copy and have a play.

Just an IOS change. I put the image on some older ones and it worked just
    fine.
