Can't WRITE to CompactFlash

Discussion in 'Computer Support' started by Andrew Halpern, Jul 20, 2004.

  1. My compactflash card, which works PERFECTLY in my camera, will not allow my
Lexar Multi-card reader to transfer files to the card from Windows explorer.

If I want to copy files FROM the card, it works fine. However, if I try to
copy anything but the smallest tiny shortcut to the card, windows will lock
up and give me a weird "delayed write failure" message. Also sometimes it
says the directory is too deep?

I tried this on two computers, one running windows 2000 and one running
windows xp, and I have the same problem on both. I don't believe the card
is defective because I just bought it, and it works fine inside my camera.
The card-reader will function correctly only if I use my 256mb Dane-elec
high speed 35x compact flash card. It doesn't like any other cards, and
will only READ from those cards, but not WRITE to them. Not sure what to do
    here.

    Tricky problem.

    PLEASE help
