You might want to check your proxy settings for a start, clear them or set
them depending on what you have now, many ISP's use a 'transperent' proxy so
even if you have nothing set there is still a proxy in place. Manually
setting it to a proxy could clear your problem.

Another thing you should do, is to clear all your Temporary Internet Files
and probably your temp directory as well. Cookies might also be worth
clearing to see if that helps your problem.

Also, if you use IE as your browser, try going through Add/Remove Programs
    and carry out a Repair.

If you don't have the latest version of IE you might want to consider
updating it, but if you can't get to some webpages that might be hard to do
online but one of the free disks on PC magazines would probably have the
    latest SP.

What OS are you running also what browser and what firewall or
firewalls,, Assuming you have ie 5.0 or later and your firewalls are
off when you request a web page and get the "page cannot be
displayed" page, there should be a link on it that says "determine
network settings" ,, untill i know more about your pc thats all i can
    suggest.
