    Virus
    Trojan horse Downloader.small.ct
    is found in file.
    C:\system volume
    information\_restore{90FDDBAC-07D7-4Ft4...}\RP171\A0039514.exe
    AVG resident scan

Above is a virus warning (on the screen before any one is logged in) I have
been getting for the last couple of days .Not getting this warning
constantly just 4~5 times a day.

    Have run
AVG 6 (using) database 341 issued 5/12/03......no virus

    Trend micro online..........................................no virus

    Anti-trojan v5.5 ..............................................no trojan

Cleaner database v3421 issued 02/12/03.....no trojan

can't see C:\system volume information (at all), so can't manually delete.

Should I be worried ? And how can I remove splash screen/warning?

Seem to remember something about you can't see all the files you have to
enable "viewing of hidden files" how would I go about this ?
    will/should/could it help ?

    OS is Windows XP (home)

If it's in the restore, I believe you need to delete the restore point.
(Wait for someone to confirm this, or search previous messages)

If you want to view hidden files, go to Windows Explorer, click on
Tools/Folder Options/View and look for "Hidden files and folders" and check
    "Show hidden files and folders".

    I haven't heard of downloader.small.ct and it doesn't show in either AVG's
or Symantec's catalogue. Take a look in Task Manager - Right click the
taskbar and select Processes - and see if you can spot anything there.

Presumably you have used "Search for files or folders" to locate this file?

Otherwise, it looks like you wil have to ask AVG.

    Good luck,

    Ed
