Can you get to a DOS C prompt in XP?

    There is no DOS in XP. However, look for Command Window on your menu.

    Or hit f8 repeatedly during boot (you only have to hit it once but the
    timeing is critical) & then you will be presented with a boot menu of
    which one is boot to command prompt
