I know of a few places where they have great reviews of digital cameras.
However for the Leica R9, (35mm film camera) there seems to be little info
    on the web.

    Thanks,

    Thanks Ken,

Between the time I posted this question and found your answer, I came
across a couple web based Leica users group/forums..

    &category=Leica%20versus%20(this%20versus%20that...)

After reading about 4 hours of this information, I have decided that the
Leica lens would be better (less contrast for more areas of grey) (not as
color saturated however can be used with stronger colored films and
filters to help with color and would probably be better for people
pictures with other types of slide film) for my tasts compaired to the
Contax (more contrast and SLIGHTLY more color saturated). Though I'm
still up in the air about the differences between the lens used on their
M series cameras and the R series cameras. Another words, I like SLRs
and was wondering about the quality of the lens that's used on it,
particually the zoomlenes compaired to the fixed focal lengths.

Sometimes I read that at least a couple of the zoomlens are better or at
least as good as their fixed length counterparts and at other times I
read that the fixed lenses are better. If I could read more info that
the zoomlens could at least equal or at least come VERY close to
performance of the fixed lenght equivalant, I could be sold because I
it's much easier to work with a zoomlens.

One other thing, I really like the R9 (SLR). Two problems though, there
seems to be a film scratch problem that seems to happen when about 115
rolls of film is used and wear down a plastic part (that does not seem to
be getting fixed by Leica) and no TTL (through the lens) metering for use
with a flash and or studio ligting (at least when it comes to their
matrix meter mode). I don't mind that it's mostly manual, however TTL
metering for flash would help take some of the thinking out of correct
flash exposer, particually with the use of various filters etc.

Maybe those two issues will be addressed with the R10,

    Barney
