byte transfer

  1. I seem to have a problem with my computer and I hope someone can help me, I
    can't seem to download windows updates the page says that it is searching
    for the latest windows update software, and this page stays for up to more
    than two hours without doing anything , when I connect to the web it starts
    sending and receiving bytes and this keeps going until I eventually just
    switch it off, is this it downloading some program or something .....TIA

    Yes, it's transferring stuff. It's called viruses. And the virus doesn't
    want you to update Windows. If you can start up XP in safe mode with
    networking and run some online virus scans, you'll probably find some
    real crap in your system. Also run updated Adaware and Spybot. But first:
