Bootup - "Auto detect" drive in XP Pro ?

Discussion in 'Computer Support' started by John Fitzsimons, Jan 18, 2008.

  1. When using win 98 I had a computer with two removable IDE
drives. C:\ and D:\ . It was setup so that if I only had one drive
present it would still boot up okay. Whether I inserted the drive in
    the top, or bottom, slot.

I have forgotten what file arranged this but in any case it is a file
that XP doesn't use. I understand I can do the same in XP but don't
know the correct file to change and the syntax needed.

Can someone here give me this information and/or refer me to a web
page where this is detailed please ? Thanks.

    Regards, John.
