Blue screen of death

Discussion in 'Windows 64bit' started by =?Utf-8?B?U2ltb24gUA==?=, Sep 5, 2005.

  1. Have been running X64 with no problems for a while now untill the dreaded
blue screen popped up today and now when I switch on I can use my PC for
about 1 min and then it pops up and the PC restarts. Is there a way to fix
this? (Don't really want to have to start all over again, as stupidly haven't
    backup up in a while)

    It says.....

    Multiple IRP complete requests

    Technical Information

    stop:0x00000044 (0xfffffadff388f7a, 0x0000000000001c12, 0x0000000000000000,
    0x0000000000000000)

    Whatever that means

If you updated a driver recently, hit F8 during boot and try a spacebar for
Last Known Good when prompted during the boot.

  5. Unfortunately, Last Known Good won't help -- he'll have to do a driver
rollback. Last Known Good assumes that the last time you were able to
successfully log in was the last known good. Which is not always the case,
    as we know too well.

  6. Hello Simon,
Check the setupapi.log file for the last 40 or 50 lines or so to see if any
    new drivers were added.
Check the system event log to see when the firs instance of the stop
    0x00000044 started happening.
Try to see if there were any drivers that were installed around the same
    timeframe.
Can you boot into Safe Mode and run without crashing?
Can you use MSConfig and try to simplify the system to see if that can
    resolve the issue?

    Thanks,
    Darrell Gorter[MSFT]
