Blank ring on a DVD-R with missing tracks.

    I have a Panasonic E50 DVD-R / RAM recorder. I recently burned a DVD-R and found that there is a
blank ring on the DVD in the middle of what looks like good data. When I played the DVD back the
first several tracks played (which I assume is before the ring) and then there are 4 that would
not. The rest of the recordings (4hrs) worth turned out fine. The ring looks as if it is an area
    that was never recorded on.

Has anybody ever seen one of these rings on their disk and found a few unpalatable tracks? I am
recording on TDK-DVD-Rs at 2x. I have burned 8 DVDs so far with hardly any problems.
