Beginning VB Scripting

Discussion in 'Microsoft Certification' started by =?Utf-8?B?bWF0bHlu?=, Oct 8, 2007.

  1. Where would be a good place to inquire about how to code Mathematical
    Calculations in VB Script?

    Specifically, how to code to perform:

    SA = 2PIr^2 + 2PRrh

    Thanks

    Hello matlyn,

    Most programming languages (VBS included) don't automatically assume that
    you want to multiply when you put variables next to each other. You must
    specify each and every operation.

    You'll also need to define PI.

    SA = 2 * PI * r^2 + 2 * PR * r * h

    Then for readability, you may want to add parenthesis:

    SA = (2 * PI * r^2) + (2 * PR * r * h)

    Microsoft.public.scripting.vbscript would be a good place to post a scripting
    question.

    Most beginning scripting books would cover the coding of calcualtions.

    Microsoft's book is: Microsoft Windows Scripting Self-Paced Learning Guide

    good luck
