Bats in Auckland

    I live on the ridge above the railway line, overlooking Eden Park, and
    tonight I heard something that I think might have been bats. I can't
    imagine where they might be roosting, but I hope the railway works
    currently under way doesn't disturb them.

    It was at 10:00 pm, and quite dark, and I wasn't able to see anything,
    but the chirps seemed to be saying eeee-ay. I suppose it could have
    been high-flying gulls. But at that time of night?

    They play a lot of cricket at Eden Park!
