Received spam email from a company calling itself barginkiwi, it is very
unusual for me to receive spam so I would like to know how they got my email
address, I am with clearnet. Anyhow don't buy from these spamming bastards.

Last time I got spam from them they said that they got it from some "find
your old school mates" website, but, well, they had sent it to
which only gets used for one thing, and Im pretty sure you
    can guess what that it.

I ain't signed up with old school mates or anyone else, I am very careful
who I give my email address to which is why I almost get no spam, it is a
very rare thing for me to get it which is why I am curious as to how these
bastards got through, although I don't plan on wasting a lot of time to find
out but I certainly would not deal with scum like this by buying anything
    from them.

When it happened last time, I rang them and abused their "Managing Director"
they had his ddi listed on the website, and he was rather surprised to hear
it... that was the last one I received from them.

Lay a complaint with clear, if they get enough they will shut them

Exactly same thing happened to me. I got one today from them to an address
which gets zero spam. This is the first one I've got. How on earth are they
    getting my address.

There should be a blacklist page for NZ sites which are kicked off
ISPs for spammin, so that other ISPs can reference it before signing
up a company that has spammed in the past.

Yes there should ... but then each ISP couldn't get their money out of
them for a while could they ? :)

Forgive the cynicism ... but if we really thought that sort of thing
was important, wouldn't we have the no-call list like the US ?
Seems to me we've done a whole lot of careful nothing about this
issue and many related ones to date.

  11. On the same sort of note - Today I got an email from West Point Computers
(an Auckland company) - apparently I am a valued customer but I have never
heard of them let alone bought anything from them. I have also had the
barginkiwi spam - guess it'll teach me for signing up to Oldfriend's!

Most "ISPs" would prefer to take spammer money.

That's clearly evident and not in the least surprising, this is where the
Governments role is very important in a free market economy, unfortunately
our Government seems to be very lapse at fixing problems that a free market
creates, they are suppose to be the grease that makes a free market work
less problematic, they seem to have plenty of time for fascist type social
    laws though.

But it might not have anything to do with oldfriends, I have not signed up

no no no ... a "free market" has no problems by definition (see reds
posts for one example many times :)). Therefore it must be how it's
meant to be now ... be afraid ! :)

    Followups set :)
