Bugged by problem. Using XP pro, 512 mg ram, disk has only about 14 gig on
it, computer is only six months old.
Suddenly (well, for the past week), if
computer is not used for an hour or so, OE and IE both stop working,
although I can access most programs on the drive. Cable connection has been
    verified as okay.
    Ran Ad-aware, Spybot,
Webroot and Norton AV -- shows no virus or other major problem. No new
    programs added in recent weeks.
Restart doesn't seem to help. Shutting down computer completely and
    starting again gets
things working again fine, just as long as I don't stop.
Does this sound like hardware or software problem? Would re-installing
Windows XP help or mess things further?
    Appreciate any suggestions, and thanks.

Have you looked into sleep mode settings? You have problems ONLY with
IE and OE, all else works? Use FireFox / Thunderbird, they're much
better than IE / OE anyway.
