Summary: Our review of the newest high-end video card from ATI, Radeon X1800 XT.
Here is a snippet: "Radeon X1800 XT, formerly known as R520, is the new high-end chip from ATI, directly competing with GeForce 7800 GTX from nVidia. We’ve got a reference sample for this model from ATI, so we will compare its performance to other members of the Radeon X1000 series, to previous ATI chips and also with competing products from nVidia. But don’t get too excited: video cards based on Radeon X1800 XT will only reach the market in one month from now."

By the time ATI gets its answer to the 6800GTX to market NVidia will be long into creating its next generation card to smoke that one. Besides, check the review more carefully, it doesn't beat the NVidia.

Okay, will do. Let's see... the X1800.... It's made by ATi :) Is it better than NVidia? *whispers between crashes of lighting* Little do they know that I am just leading them to their inevitable doom of having an all-out ATi/NVidia war! MUAHAHAHAHAHA!! *MUAHAHAHAHAHA!! said quietly but still threateningly*

All I'll say on this is the following.
    NVidia 7800GTX SLI GPU -
    [IMG]
    ATI X1800 -

One I can stick in my machine, the other... Hmmm...

Well yeah, nothing is always cheaper than something. But remember, you get what you pay for. I for one, prefer a video card that exists, even if I have to pay for it, over a cheaper one that doesn't. :)

You would get something that doesn't exist? That'd be an interesting trick, how would you pull that off? Furthermore, even if it did exist right this very moment, magically, you'd get it based on what? Blind loyalty to a brand name? Seems pretty sad to me. I've used both brands and my personal experience tells me that NVidia is vastly superior, no matter what. Even if it's slightly slower, it's superior. Why? Stability, reliability and customer support. Those things come into play. All the ATI products I've ever had have had problems.
Actually, the most satisfied I was ever with a video card's performance was with an old Voodoo card. <Shrug>
