More than 230 tonnes of old computer equipment and mobile phones were
collected yesterday during New Zealand's first national eDay.

Trade Me founder Sam Morgan helped out at the Wellington collection, while
Green MP Nandor Tanczo was in Hamilton.

The public delivered computers to collection points in Wellington,
Invercargill, Wanaka, Alexandra, Queenstown, Wanganui, Rotorua, Whakatane,
Tauranga and Hamilton and collections will be held in Auckland tomorrow.

National organiser Laurence Zwimpfer said the goal was to stop the
equipment, which contains toxic materials, being dumped in landfills.
