alternatives to groups

There are alternatives to google groups. One of them being the free
service at www.tagiton.com. I am a little biased since I worked on
this site, but I believe that it provides a more lightweight UI with
easier to manage forums (which they call Tags). Tagiton essentially
allows users to create forums on any subject and enables the user to
invite their contacts via email to take part. The forum creation is
setup like composing an email and the recipients don't need to go
through an authentication process to "join" to take part in the forum.
They combined the openness of email with the communication benefits of
    a forum.

Funny. A Spam to usenet about a web alternative to GG which has low
    overhead. Real Einstein this one.
