Is Norton 2003 with regular updates compatible with Windows Me? Unlike other
AV programs I've used, Norton is constantly causing error messages regarding
applications/programs. Like for example "lexplore has caused an error in
your Maytag. The program will now close. If you still have problems, restart
the computer." Does anyone know how to tame the beast?
    Thanks

Ever try to uninstall Norton on Windows/DOS machine. It has a pretty
    tenacious grip on the OS.

Have you tried Norton's help page?
It's a good way of spending a few hours only to find yourself at the point
    at which you started.
I had problems with their AV last year, their support is lousy.

Norton is perhaps ok if you are like the guys on this expert group. But for
a person with normal PC knowledge they stink.
I changed to PC Cillin over a year ago and encountered one problem, this was
quickly sorted out by a real person at the end of their support team.

Personally I would not touch any Norton product with the clean end of a
    mucky old brush.

IMO they should not be allowed to trade in the UK. They break every rule in
    the book.

Yes Roger, I know how to uninstall so is that the only way to cure the
problem? There is no medicine? Do you have incompatibility with Norton. Is
    AVG as good?

I remember when the Milwaukee Brewers under the guidance of Mgr. Harvey
Kuenn in 1982, the year they lost to the Cards in the World Series, were
known, because of their powerful lineup as "Harvey's Wall Bangers" which
will explain your screen name to those wondering. However your answer leaves
me wondering. Does a tenacious grip on an OS always signify the problem I
    encounter?

Thanks for the tip on PC Cillin. Methinks I'll have a look at their website.

  13. I tried PC Cillin not too long ago. The only problem I had with it was
it slowed the downloading of email to a crawl. And with the number of
emails I get from a couple of mailing lists I subscribe to, this made PC
Cillin undesirable. I still like eTrust EZ Antivirus and occasionally
run Trend Housecall to double check.
