Hey guys, im in the process of studying for my A+
certification, but i was just wondering, what kind of jobs
are available to me after i get this certification? How
much do they pay? Is this a respectable certification? and
do employers look for this? Thanks.

With just the A+ don't expect much more than working at
CompUSA or BestBuy fixing computers at around $8-$10/hour
but you will get alot of experience. It is a great start
in IT. If you want something better than a $10/hour job,
    get more certs.

Yeah, getting my A+ enabled me to get a job at a local computer store (this
was back in 2000). Got paid $8/hr.

It was a pretty cool job, though.

It all depends, Ameer. I've seen people get their A+ and work as techs or
help desk support, and they stay right there as happy as can be. Of course,
if you like your job, there's nothing wrong with that. The more ambitious
ones, though, will push their skills harder and move on up the ladder.

I earned my A+ as an undergraduate. After I graduated, I got my Network+
and got a job as a tech at $12 per hour. (Note: Once you earn your A+, the
Network+ is VERY easy in comparison. It's a good next step.)

Then I kept working on my training for more specific certs, like the MCSA.
After passing two MCP exams (Win 2000 Pro and Server), I was promoted to LAN
Administrator. After I finished my MCSA, I got bumped up to $45,000/year.
All of this was just about nine months after I started working as a tech.

To answer your last two questions, yes the A+ is both respectable and sought
after by employers. After a lot of bad luck with non-certified technicians,
I now will only hire A+ Certified Professionals (or VERY near completion) as
    my technicians and network specialists.

    Good luck, Ameer.

    Eric
