Well that was stupid. Great cast wasted on a sub-mental morality
tale. Weisz was miscast (I didn't believe for a second that she could
go toe to toe with Hackman). Nice to see Nora Dunn still finding work
as an extra. Save yourself the trouble and rent this one if you
really must watch Hackman, Hoffman, and Cusack slum it through this
    liberal anti-gun nut masturbation fantasy.

I have to disagree. I thought the movie was well done, and in particular, I
found the face to face between Weisz and Hackman to be much more effective
than the one between Hackman and Hoffman, where I could not keep the mental
image of "Tootsie" from popping in my head each time Hoffman (who I
generally love, by the way) spoke during the confrontation...

I haven't seen the movie yet. But I recall the book being, in my
    opinion, one
of Grishams better efforts. 'Course, in the book, the "enemy" was a tobacco
company, not an arms manufacturer. Mayhaps that could have changed the
    thrust of the movie.

I WILL go see it, based on how I remember the book.
