I just got a Catalyst 2924XL switch for my lab and boy is it
noisy! Has anyone else noticed this with this model? I just
hope there isn't a problem with it.

    Thanks!

Most cisco gear is noisy. They tend not to bother making quiet fans.
Its mostly designed to go in the closet or datacenter unless you get
the little-bitty boxes like the 8xx series routers or maybe the 17xx
    ones.

They're not *that* noisy. I had a problem with a 3524XL fan and Cisco
replaced the unit. The 3560s are much quieter but very expensive. I would
give them a call and either have them send you a new fan or exchange the
    switch.
