070-292 unrealistic

Discussion in 'MCSA' started by immune to MCP exams, Sep 27, 2005.

  1. Does anyone else believe the exam is "real" world? The one thing MS
pushed when they said they were changing their methods was to be real
world skills testing. SUS---dead, WSUS is the technology now. Remote
Control of terminal sessions. ....Uhh...NO. If you are working on
mission critical apps, you better be at the console. Just because they
have neat little gimmicks doesnt mean they should determine what the
test is . Ding me on DNS..ok, but dont start testing starting from 10
year BIND boxes, they arent there.
216 was a bear the first time through, ISA was a bear, but 5 years
later, the job at hand is pretty well defined, I think they should take
that into account and test on what is really done. ASR not used, 110
plus servers now and management would have our head if we risked a
restored OS on a server. Flatten the box and rebuild from scratch.
Restore the Data. Now someone is guarenteed to say that thats what MS
is testing for to begin with. You want to ask me how to use ASR. Fine,
but it isnt Rocket science, NTbackup isnt the preferred method of
backup. Well, there's enough there for the apologists to jump on the
bandwagon and torch me for not whooping and hollering yeah MS. 125 for
Prometric. 70 for Measureup and a day off without pay. Joy..... And I
wanted to be an admin why?

If you read past discussion, you'll see this has been covered, but as I
always point out, that's why their address is One Microsoft Way.
