Conclusion

The DH-101 is a great case; the chassis has a very high build quality. The Piano finish on the chassis looks great and thanks to the included tac cloth you can keep it clean. The Brushed Aluminium Face plate looks very nice and matches in with newer sound systems and old sound systems that have an aluminium face.

The Media Lab Kit is great, although not made by Thermaltake it does suite the requirements for a Media Kit. The Remote can be used entirely without a keyboard or mouse connected to the system and because you are able to start up the PC with the Remote the HTPC chassis makes it feel more like a piece of Media equipment as opposed to a PC.

Pros:
  • Great Chassis
  • Great Build Quality
  • Supports Full ATX motherboard and Power Supplies
  • Supports a mATX motherboards
  • The chassis is not overly large and should fit in most setups
  • The LCD can display a lot of information
  • The Front Panel controls are useful
  • The remote is great; it can control both mouse and keyboard without having a mouse and keyboard.
  • Software included is well functioning and works with software like Windows Media Centre well
  • Software supports the Media Centre Keyboard and Remote from Microsoft
  • Larger CPU Coolers are quite possible
Cons:
  • Pricey
  • The IR reception is really a problem if you HTPC is not directly in front of you couch.
  • The two rear 60mm fans may be a little to loud for your ears
  • Has two 5 Drive Bays but you can only use one for an Optical Drive.
  • Large Graphic Cards will not fit in
  • Some Parts lack the nice glossy paint job
The case comes in at $300 AUD from Australian Stores, 160 in Europe and $260 USD in USA.

I would like to Thank Thermaltake for allowing us to review this product.
