When I wrote my 'New to C++' message I was attempting to use the Qt Creator
IDE but had trouble with bits seemingly missing. Updates made it worse, so
that the code I started with showed up errors unrelated to syntax but with
missing library items. I am now pretty fed up with it.

Can anyone recommend a Linux IDE and a GUI environment as a best
alternative?

In addition, do any suitable IDE's permit stepping though a program?

Thanks in advance
