I don't know whether this is of interest to people
here, but it may be of interest to some:

Microsoft's Expression Design software for vector
graphics (and the rest of the "Expression" suite)
has just been released as free software. There are
no restrictions other than no tech. support. But
there are two caveats:

1) The product is discontinued,
so it may not be of much use 5 years from now.

2) There are gigantic and extensive dependencies (.Net 4,
Silverlight, etc.). If you run Win7 you may have many
of the required files pre-installed, but if you run XP you
could be required to install nearly 1 GB of otherwise
useless slop, depending on what software you have
installed currently.
