ipod calamity!

My laptop broke down and after I got it fixed all data that was on it was gone

all my music was on it and i am afraid that if i connect my ipod to my laptop all songs will be erased...(am i right?)
If i am then i'll never be able to download new music to my ipod!?!
(I can't download all the music again_I have 635 songs on my ipod)
Is there a way i can transfer the music on my ipod back to my laptop?
This is a huge problem for me plz help me out!
