I would be interested in any experience you folks have had in photo
excursions in Ecuador and/or Peru, especially for birding or macro
photography.

Where are the best spots? Best time of year?

Are the chances realistic of an outsider getting good shots of good
specimens?

Should one hire a local guide or join a photo tour led by a pro? Or
set out independently?

What about security and petty crime?

How does one get around in these countries, especially to remote
locations?
