What is the best interface for these two? I am not really that
interested in portability. DBI looks very complicated, I do not have
much experience of it, and there does not seem to ge a MS SQL 2000
server DBD anyway.

Any suggestions?

If you're on Windows, try DBD::ODBC. I've got good experiences with that
combo.

I've been told DBD::Sybase ought to be usable for MS SQL Server, too.
